I have a Stand that is 15 inches wide and when I ordered a custom 45 gallon bowfront they said it was 15 inches wide. When I got it, it was 17 inches. Is it ok to have 1 inch on the front and back hang off the stand? Will 1 inch make a big difference?Would it be wise to add some wood to the back of the stand to extend it and reinforce it with metal braces and 2x4's so it on a flat surface or will it be ok?

I would like it to be about 200 gallons + and a corner piece, the advantage of this is that it only needs one sheet of glass, the other two sides can be made from something else if that works out cheaper, i already have all the filters and most of the stuff i'd fill it with, just need to work out the cost of the tank itself.
oh and possibly the cost of its stand should i make one.
i want it mainly for cold water Ghost koi (i have four that are nearly a foot long and am sick of barely being able to see them in the pond, would much rather swap them for goldfish in the pond

i have a 125 g tank that holds a turtle and a few fish.. i made a custom stand for. now i want to make the canopy for it. i will have doors on the front. and i will be using dome lights which i will put on top so there will be holes cut. besides the cutouts for the chords and filter tube i dont know what else to ad. i was told to make holes for air circulation . then i saw some people with fans. i also saw some tanks with plexiglass on top to block the moisture. are those necessities.
if i need a fan do i need to have it on 24/7. (my lights are on a 10/14 rotation)
do i cut the plexiglass to fit on top of the tank or do i keep it up high a bit. is it really necessary?
let me know what you think and how you would map it out. my uvb basking light will be in 1 corner. pipes and wires in another. regular uva bulb in the middle.

I just finished building my custom stand for my 75 gal aquarium, and now I'm building myself a canopy. I decided I want to put 2 small fans in the top to blow air out so the moisture doesn't build up and rot/warp the tank. I'm looking at my chillpad for my laptop as I write this and I'm thinking something like it's fans would work. So, anyone know where I can get something like that, which is small, and spins at LOW rpm, and thats relatively quiet that I can get and wire with my lights to a switch/timer? Thanks!

i am planning on building a 300 + gallon aquarium in an L shape. my bed is in a corner in a basement so weight is no problem.
i have stand plans.
i am planning on making the bottom sheet of glass supported by 2x4's every 8". all corners held tightly with finished 2x4's and painted. then the inside sealed with the all glass aquarium tank seal. the top i was going to save the top for last.
does anyone out there have experince building large fish tanks?
have any tips?
common problems?
i am just seeking more information before i start putting money into this.
i want to stay away from acrillic. they are WAYYY to expensive.
also a quick note that this will be a freshwater tank. so there will be no overflows. just 3 large canister filters i have.if its not possible to get an L shapped piece of glass i will use 2 pieces. heavy seal
