Resolved Question: Mineral oil cooled computer set up?

I would like to design a custom "aquarium" case too house my Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition processor, 2 Diamond Radeon HD 5970 video cards, and Cooler Master 1250W power supply. I heard something about using mineral oil as a coolant and just filling up the custom case as you would an aquarium? How effective is this? With my set up would i also need a radiator? What advantages does this have over water cooling and air cooling? MORE INFO ON THIS PLEASE!!! more

Resolved Question: does anyone have any suggestions for alternative aquarium decorations that provide hiding places for the fish?

I have a tank and am anxious to fill it with fish so im in the process of preparing the tank, but im just really not attracted to the common typical plants and caves and "castles" or landscape background posters there are available. I want a more custom look. I want to improvise and design my own "landscape". Are there things/objects/materials that i absolutely should not use? I want the tank to reflect my own personal style but of course the most important thing is the health and comfort of the fish! PLEASE HELP! Can i use a solid black or other solid color background poster? more

Resolved Question: Can my floor support my aquarium?

I live in a first floor maisonette built in 1904. I'd like to set up a 330 litre aquarium with 60 litre sump. I'm putting it in the corner of my living room. My house adjoins the house next door, between there is a walkway, probably for horses back in the day. so, it is my assumption that this corner of my living room is directly over the top of a load bearing brick wall, but I cant be certain. The weight of the system will be approximately 1200lbs. This is an estimate based on 800lbs of sea water, a heavy 36x24x24inch glass tank which i estimate to weigh 150lbs. To it, I will add 40kg of live rock. There will be a sump made of acrylic which I have not finished designing yet. This will all sit on a relatively light weight custom built cabinet. The weight will be distributed over 36x27 rectangular base of 70x70mm timber. Does this sound doable to you?true about the water beds, but the weight is also distributed over a much wider area. Mine will be distributed on 36 x 27 inch rectangle of 70mm timber with one crossbar. perhaps I should put a slab of 1.8mm mdf on the bottom as well to try and further distribute?not on the ground floor, im on the first floor, in the UK thats the upstairs one :)i do know this isnt the best place for structural advice, but its cheaper than paying someone to come out and look :)thanks axeman... I did the numbers and seriously overestimated the weight of the system to be 1500lbs. Distributed on 36x27inches comes to 6.75 sqare feet, divide them and i get only 222. so it sounds like i'm safe. being over a load bearing wall, i think i have nothing to fear here. thanks! more

Does this sound doable to you?thanks for the prompt answers, regarding the house, its a cottage built in 1904 so not exactly modern building which is my only concern, but between the adjoining cottage, theres a walkway probably made for horses or whatnot, so i belive this corner of the house extends 2 feet over that walkway. I can only assume that the wall beside the walkway is made to support the house above meaning that this aquarium *should* be squarely placed atop that brick wall... if i've measured things right :) more

Resolved Question: OScommerce vs Zen Cart?

I am preparing to open a fish and aquarium supply store. Initially, it will be Internet-only (I plan on adding retail and franchise locations starting in about six months after my Web site goes live). I am in the process of deciding if I should use OScommerce or ZenCart. I myself do not know PHP, but will be hiring a programmer to design the Web site, and will maintain the products list/Web site content myself. I am looking for the ability to add custom modules as my business grows, so I am leaning toward OScommerce. That said, however, I am also looking for a solution that will allow me to maintain products, pictures, content, etc without taking the time to ascertain more than a very basic understanding of PHP. With this in mind, should I go with ZenCart? Something else? I appreciate everyone's input! more
