I have a budget of about 2000 and i wanna make a circular panaramic aquarium i am not sure where to start. My problem is this, I have a ten gallon aquarium with an underground filter, glass top(custom fit with wholes drilled in the back{were the plastic cover is} which is big enough only to allow the air hose to fit through). My problem is this, I noticed if I have the lid down in the aquarium, eventually the humidity will increase so much, that the bubbles wont pop and causes a major bubble layer at the surface.) Problems with this bubble layer are, -Doesn't look pretty -Seems to kill my aquarium plants(coincidence?) I used a bit extra and ran the silicone up and down the eight joints where the glass edges meet. There is a slight bit of excess in places, but still looks fairly neat. If it cures 100% is there a reason why i shouldn't leave it in , instead of trying to scrape everything down to the minimal amount needed? Im looking to build a large custom aquarium, because commercial aquariums are ridiculously expensive (especially where I live). There is an extreme lack of information on this topic, although I have found a few sources where they explain that you go to a glass shop and get them to cut the dimensions for all sides and bottom of the tank, that's all good. BUT they start to talk about doing something with duct tape, that's where they lost me, does anyone have any past experience on this? My father made me an AWSOME cumstom aquarium for my Burmese Python & now that the snake has died I have no use for it. It is the most gorgeous beautiful aquarium I have ever seen. Looks like a awsome piece of furniture. It has a rustic wood look, the front & top are slightly tinted glass, the back & mirror & the rest is wood. I have a small glass aquarium. I belive it's only about 2.5 gallons in which i use for a breeding tank. I really need a full sized hood for it with a light. I'd like a kit-like saltwater tank to start with two clownfish and an anemone, and have been looking at several different ones online. I live in a first floor maisonette built in 1904. I'd like to set up a 330 litre aquarium with 60 litre sump. I'm putting it in the corner of my living room. My house adjoins the house next door, between there is a walkway, probably for horses back in the day. so, it is my assumption that this corner of my living room is directly over the top of a load bearing brick wall, but I cant be certain. The weight of the system will be approximately 1200lbs. This is an estimate based on 800lbs of sea water, a heavy 36x24x24inch glass tank which i estimate to weigh 150lbs. To it, I will add 40kg of live rock.There will be a sump made of acrylic which I have not finished designing yet. This will all sit on a relatively light weight custom built cabinet. The weight will be distributed over 36x27 rectangular base of 70x70mm timber. Does this sound doable to you?true about the water beds, but the weight is also distributed over a much wider area. Mine will be distributed on 36 x 27 inch rectangle of 70mm timber with one crossbar. perhaps I should put a slab of 1.8mm mdf on the bottom as well to try and further distribute?not on the ground floor, im on the first floor, in the UK thats the upstairs one :)i do know this isnt the best place for structural advice, but its cheaper than paying someone to come out and look :)thanks axeman... i am planning on building a 300 + gallon aquarium in an L shape. my bed is in a corner in a basement so weight is no problem. i have stand plans. i am planning on making the bottom sheet of glass supported by 2x4's every 8". all corners held tightly with finished 2x4's and painted. then the inside sealed with the all glass aquarium tank seal. the top i was going to save the top for last. does anyone out there have experince building large fish tanks? have any tips? common problems? i am just seeking more information before i start putting money into this. i want to stay away from acrillic. they are WAYYY to expensive. also a quick note that this will be a freshwater tank. so there will be no overflows. just 3 large canister filters i have.if its not possible to get an L shapped piece of glass i will use 2 pieces. heavy seal moreResolved Question: Is it legal to sell a Macquarium?
