Resolved Question: How much would you sell this painting for?

I have this painting in my garage someone did of the main character from the Prince of Persia videos games. Its three feet by two, done in acrylic paint. It's of the character with a blue and red background of flames. I don't know much about selling art or what fans of the franchise would by a painting like this, but I want to get rid of it. It was left in a rental property I own, I contacted the tenant, but he never responded. I have had it for 2 years and don't really like it. I don't want to throw it out since it is well done, I just don't know what to do with it. I also don't know anyone in my circle that would be interested in it.it's just something someone did, not a professional or known artist of any kind. more

Voting Question: wall partitioning system?

i am looking for an acrylic partition system that is similar to the properties of 3-form. I am doing an interior design project that requires 70ft of wall partition, but i do not want to use an ugly partitioning system. I thought of using something like acrylic, but i know it's really expensive. Any ideas of what i could use as an attractive wall partitioning system, that does not look like it is for an office or a gym but is not residential? Thanks more

Voting Question: What is the rate at which acrylic heats up?

This is a question for work, and it's way outside of my general scope. At what rate will acrylic absorb heat? The answer would be nice, but how you arrive at it would be even better. :) Assuming that the acrylic is at 80 degrees and I shove it into a 350 degree oven how long would it take to get there. The sheet thickness is 8.5mm and it's Plexiglass MC. http://www.plexiglas.com/acrylicsheet/technicaldata/properties/heat#heat more

Resolved Question: Can you take this information and turn it into a speech?

Can you turn this into a speech for me? Product: The Eco-spray and Paper Flattener Raw Materials: corn, wheat or sugar beet for biodegradable spray bottle and for the Paper Flattener. This is made out of Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) that comes from the starch of rich plants such as sugar beet, corn and wheat. This goes through a fermentation and condensation process to create the Poly Lactic Acid. Ink removable spray substance (Eco-spray) is to be invented. Power source: Any source of energy will do. We can use electricity from nuclear energy, solar energy, fossil fuels, wind energy or whatever to run laboratory equipment. As a result we can use the kinetic energy of the wind to create clean energy for the laboratory equipment/processing. Transportation: Since we decided to have all of the manufacturing process and distribution stores to be in Canada, the best and cheapest way to distribute them is by Transport trucks. This way we can transport raw materials to our manufacturing industry and taking the finished product to different franchised stores. Location: These are the factors of where we should locate our factory and why: 1.Close to where we get our raw materials for the product – If our factory is near the locations in which we get the raw materials, than the distance of transporting it to the factory would be closer. This way we can save money and time by transporting it a shorter distance rather than long. 2.Sufficiently windy places exposed high areas, like hills or small mountains for wind turbines to create energy for factory – To create energy for the factory we need wind turbines near the factory. Therefore the location of the factory should be open high areas for enough wind to create energy. 3.Near roads for transport trucks to come in and out of the factory area – It would be easier to have roads near the factory so the raw materials can be transported directed to the factory, rather than having people move them from a far distance to the factory. Near water so ships can easily distribute product to other countries. 4.On industrial land – this is where land/property is usually less expensive since we need a vast amount of land. It is important to locate the factory on industrial land and not residential land, so it is not populace. Benefits of spray and paper flattener: 1.Environmentally friendly 2.Can reuse same paper continuously 3.Spray bottle and paper flattener has better strength than plastic/acrylic material 4.The material is the same price as regular material 5.Spray bottle and paper flattener does not decompose instantly but will in direct contact with 100% renewable resource such as soil and with decompose in 100 days more

Resolved Question: Calligraphy Ink - Refilling and Reusing Disposable Ink Cartridges?

I have found that the disposable ink cartridge used in my Manuscript calligraphy pen can be cleaned, refilled and reinserted into the pen additional uses. I want to refill my cartridge with a gold color Speedball Super Pigmented Acrylic Ink that I have for my quill pen, but when I inserted the refilled cartridge into my pen, the ink would not flow down to or through the nib the same way the black ink did. I tried to alter the ink a couple of different ways, but it would not flow at all - or it barely flowed to a certain point, then stopped - as though it was too thick. I even tried thinning the ink out, but that didn't work either. Does anyone know if and how this can be done without losing its intense gold color or ink properties, like being acid free, archival, waterproof and permanent?Thank you peninhand2004. I was hoping that wasn't the case but somehow knew it and just needed someone to confirm it for me.Thank you peninhand2004. Resolved Question: What are the affects of painting my guitar and what type of paint is best?

Now I know that with hollow/semi-hollow bodied guitars and acoustic guitars you can change the tonal qualities (for better or for worse) when adding paint and/or lacquer. However, I plan to paint the back of the neck and head stock of a solid bodied guitar ( http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Squier-Standard-Stratocaster-with-Tortoise-Shell-Pickguard?sku=512732 ) black. I want to make sure that painting these parts will not affect any tonal properties of the guitar. Now secondly, I'm not sure what is the best paint to use. I have heard many people say "airbrush it", but I am on a tight budget ($30 or less). So what kind of spray paint (acrylic, metallic, enamel, etc.) should I use and the same for what kind of lacquer or protective sealant? Also, (this is not as important) could I paint the tuning keys, bridge, whammy bar, and jack ferrule a metallic gold, with once again not changing the tone? Much thanks for any help! more

Resolved Question: Studying the twinkies?

In an effort to clarify questions about the purported durability and unusual physical characteristics of Twinkies, we subjected the Hostess snack logs to the following experiments: Exposure A Twinkie was left on a window ledge for 4 days, during which time an inch and a half of rain fell. Many flies were observed crawling across the Twinkie's surface, but contrary to hypothesis, birds, even pigeons, avoided this potential source of substance. Despite the rain and prolonged exposure to the sun, the Twinkie retained its original color and form. When removed, the Twinkie was found to be substantially dehydrated. Cracked open, it was observed to have taken on the consistency of industrial foam insulation; the filling however, retained its advertised "creaminess" Radiation A Twinkie was placed in a conventional microwave oven, which was set for precisely 4 minutes - the approximate cooking time of bacon. After 20 seconds, the oven began to emit the Twinkie's rich, characteristic aroma of artificial butter. After one minute, this aroma began to resemble the acrid smell of burning rubber. The experiment was aborted after 2 minutes 10 seconds when thick, foul smoke began billowing from the top of the oven. A second Twinkie was subjected to the same experiment; this Twinkie leaked molten white filling. When cooled, this now epoxylike filling bonded the Twinkie to its plate, defying gravity: it was removed only upon application of a butter knife. Extreme Force A Twinkie was dropped from a ninth-floor window, a fall of approximately 120 feet. It landed right side up, then bounced onto its back. The expected "splatter" effect was not observed. Indeed, the only discernible damage to the Twinkie was a narrow fissure on its underside; otherwise, the Twinkie remained structurally intact. Extreme Cold A Twinkie was placed in a conventional freezer for 24 hours. Upon removal, the Twinkie was not found to be frozen solid, but its physical properties had noticeably "slowed". The filling was found to be the approximate consistency of acrylic paint, while exhibiting the mercurylike property of not adhering to practically any surface. It was noticed the Twinkie had generously absorbed the freezer odors. Extreme Heat A Twinkie was exposed to a gas flame for 2 minutes. While the Twinkie smoked and blackened and the filling in one of its "cream holes" boiled, the Twinkie did not catch fire. It did, however produce the same "burning rubber" aroma noticed in the irradiation experiment. Immersion A Twinkie was dropped into a large bucket filled with water, the Twinkie floated momentarily, then began to list and sink. Viscous yellow tendrils ran off its lower half, possibly consisting of a water-soluble artificial coloring. After 2 hours, the Twinkie bloated substantially. Its coloring was now a very pale tan - in contrast to the yellow, urine-like water that surrounded it. The Twinkie bobbed when touched, and had a gelatinous texture. After 72 hours, the Twinkie had increased roughly 200 percent of its original size. The water had turned opaque, and a small, fan-shaped spray of filling had leaked from one of the "cream holes". Unfortunately, efforts to remove the Twinkie for further analysis were abandoned when, under light pressure the Twinkie disintegrated into an amorphous cloud of debris. A distinctly sour odor was noted. Summary of Results The Twinkie's survival of a 120-foot drop, along with some of the unusual phenomena associated with the "creamy filling" and artificial coloring, should give pause to those observers who would unequivocally categorize the Twinkie as "food". Further clinical inquiry is required before any definite conclusions can be drawn. more

Resolved Question: "Icy" Dance Floor?

I wanted to have my dance floor look like ICE for my Winter Wonderland theme. Our hotel is a heritage site and will not allow artificial snow, liquid coatings, etc. We thought about covering the dance floor in sheets of acrylic spray painted with snowflakes, but that would be out of our budget and impractical. I know there are a lot of creative and smart people in this category....how can I pull this off? Can I use spotlights and some sort of reflective surface? If so, how can I find out how this is done, or what kind of equipment is needed? How would YOU do it? Thanks. P.S. Remember that I can't use anything that would damage the dance floor or hotel property. more
